I recently upgraded my internet service to the 50 MB "Blast" tier. Shortly after upgrading, I received an email from Comcast/XFinity that my current hardware does not support the speeds i am paying for and I would need to acquire a DOCSIS 3.0 modem.
They sent the following link for research.
I decided on the Motorola Surfboard eXtreme Cable Modem DOCSIS 3.0.
When on the phone with Comcast, right before we were going to complete the transfer over to the new modem, I noticed that it did not have a port for the VOIP phone "Telephony". It only had the RJ-45 jack for the Internet. The Comcast rep informed me that the modem I just bought does not support telephony and that I would have to return it.
I have since scheduled Comcast to come bring me a supported DOCSIS 3.0 modem that they rent out. They cut me a deal, and I won't have to pay for the modem rental for a year.
I also sell this modem at my Astore.
